Benefits

More than just a monthly premium.

The private PPO plans I help clients explore can include features that give you more control over cost and coverage. Features vary by plan, so I'll walk you through exactly what's available to you.

Choose your own deductible

Your coverage.Your deductible.Your choice.

Eligible applicants can choose from available deductible options based on their healthcare needs, comfort level, and budget. The right deductible is about balance: what you pay each month versus what you're comfortable paying toward covered medical expenses before your plan starts sharing costs.

See how the balance shifts

A middle-ground deductible balances a manageable monthly premium with a moderate amount you'd pay toward covered expenses first.

Illustration only, not a quote. Actual deductible choices and premiums depend on the plan, carrier, location, and applicant.

First-dollar benefits

Some benefits can start before you meet your deductible.

Depending on the plan you select, certain covered benefits may begin paying from the first dollar, so everyday care doesn't always wait on the deductible.

  • Benefits vary by plan. I'll show you which services, if any, are covered before the deductible on the options you're considering.
For healthy applicants

Potentially lower monthly rates for healthy applicants who qualify.

Some medically underwritten options may offer monthly rates 20% to 40% lower for applicants in good health who qualify.

*Savings are not guaranteed. Medically underwritten plans require an application and health review, and not every applicant will qualify. Eligibility, pricing, benefits, and any savings vary by applicant, plan, and location.

Rate lock features

Some available plans may offer guaranteed rate-lock features for a set period, subject to the terms and conditions of the selected coverage.

Portability

Many individual options aren't tied to one employer, which helps if you're independent, change jobs, or change how you earn a living.

PPO network & discounts

See doctors in a large PPO network without needing referrals, and use negotiated network rates that can lower what you pay for eligible services, depending on the plan.

Bundling

Depending on your needs and what's available, you may be able to combine multiple coverage products or benefits into one plan strategy.

Not every plan includes every feature listed here. Plan features, deductible options, network access, rates, and eligibility are subject to the terms of the specific plan and carrier and vary by applicant and location.

How it works

  2. Explore your options

I'll help identify available coverage options based on your needs, budget, and eligibility, and explain how each one works in plain language.

  3. Choose with confidence

Requesting information is free and does not obligate you to purchase a policy. You decide if and when to apply.

Are these Marketplace (Obamacare) plans?

No. The plans I offer are private PPO plans sold outside the Health Insurance Marketplace (healthcare.gov). Because they're not Marketplace plans, they don't qualify for premium tax credits or other Marketplace subsidies, and they may not include every benefit an ACA-compliant plan must cover.

For many healthy, self-employed people, a private PPO can still cost less and offer more flexibility. Plans are medically underwritten, so eligibility and pricing depend on your application. I'll explain exactly what a plan covers and doesn't cover before you decide.

What's the difference between a PPO and an HMO?

An HMO usually requires you to pick a primary care doctor and get referrals to see specialists, and it typically covers care only within its network. The plans I offer are PPOs, which generally let you see in-network doctors and specialists without referrals and give you a wider choice of providers. Network size, out-of-network coverage, and costs vary by plan.

Can I get health insurance if I'm self-employed?

Yes, self-employed people and 1099 workers generally have several paths to health coverage. I specialize in private PPO plans, which are available to eligible applicants outside the Marketplace. Which options are available to you depends on your state, your household, and your eligibility. I'll help you compare the options that apply to your situation.

Do you work with truck drivers?

Yes. Owner-operators and independent drivers are a big part of who I help. I understand irregular schedules and time on the road, so we can talk by call, text, or email whenever works for you. Because these are PPO plans, you can generally see in-network providers without referrals, and I'll help you check how a plan's network covers the areas where you usually run.

Can I choose my own deductible?

Many of the plans I help clients explore let eligible applicants choose from several available deductible options. A higher deductible usually means a lower monthly premium, and a lower deductible usually means a higher premium. The choices available depend on the plan and carrier, and I'll help you find a balance you're comfortable with.

Can I get coverage for my family?

Yes, I can help you look at options that cover a spouse, children, or your whole household. Each family member's eligibility may be reviewed separately on some plans, so I'll explain how that works before you apply.

Can you help small business owners?

Yes. I can help you explore coverage for yourself and your family, and talk through options that may be available for your employees. Choose "For my business" on the quote form and I'll follow up with questions specific to your company.

Are these plans available nationwide?

Not every plan is available in every state. Availability depends on where you live, the carrier, and the specific plan. I'm licensed in more than 30 states. Share your ZIP code on the quote form and I'll let you know what's available where you are.

Does requesting a quote cost anything?

No. Requesting a quote and talking through your options with me is free.

Will requesting a quote obligate me to enroll?

No. A quote request just starts the conversation. You're never obligated to apply or buy a policy, and you can take whatever time you need to decide.

Why can some healthy applicants qualify for lower rates?

Some plans are medically underwritten, which means the carrier reviews your health history as part of the application. Because pricing reflects that review, applicants in good health may qualify for lower monthly rates, in some cases 20% to 40% lower.

These plans are not guaranteed-issue. An application can be declined, and rates, benefits, and savings vary by applicant and plan. Underwritten plans may also exclude or limit coverage for certain conditions, so I'll walk you through the terms before you apply.

Can I keep my coverage if I change jobs?

Private PPO plans you buy yourself generally aren't tied to an employer, so they can often stay with you if you change jobs, switch carriers you drive for, or start your own business. Your coverage still depends on paying premiums and on the terms of your plan, including any rules about moving to a different state.
